PEACE-Air at Climate Action Expo & Wainfest

Posted on 5 Oct at 7:41 pm

PEACE-Air heads to Climate Action Expo and Wainfest this October at Letterkenny.

This October, the PEACE-Air team is stepping out of the lab and meeting people where they are, with two events in two days.

Monday 12 October: Climate Action Expo, Letterkenny

Donegal County Council is hosting the Climate Action Expo 2026 at the Aura Leisure Centre, Letterkenny, from 11am to 8pm. Part of Climate Action Week 2026 and themed “Local Actions, Lasting Impact”, it is a free drop-in event with exhibitions, information stands, workshops and presentations from schools, community groups and partner organisations. The day closes with an evening keynote from Claire Irwin QS of RTE’s Room to Improve on home energy efficiency and retrofit; advance registration through Eventbrite is encouraged for the keynote.

Our stand will include:

  • Air quality sensors on display, so visitors can see how low-cost monitoring works
  • Q&A postcards inviting people to reflect about the air where they live
  • Leaflets and roll-up banners to get a better picture of the project

Tuesday 13 October: Wainfest

Wainfest, Donegal’s annual children’s arts and book festival curated by County Donegal Libraries, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. PEACE-Air will be at Donegal County Museum, Letterkenny with 2 interactive “Stories of the Air” workshop sessions (10am-11am; 12:30pm-1:30pm) that allow young people to learn about the science of the air and to create their own stories of a brighter future.

Please pre-book your place through the following contact : 074 9124613 , museum@donegalcoco.ie

Why we’re there

Air quality is not only measured by instruments. It is experienced by people, in homes, schools, streets and farms. PEACE-Air brings together universities, local authorities and public health bodies across Ireland and Northern Ireland to investigate pollution from solid fuel burning, transport and agriculture, and to turn that evidence into action. What people tell us about the air where they live helps shape that work.

Come and say hello

If you’re in Letterkenny on 12-13 October, drop in and share with us what you think. If you can’t make it, you can still follow PEACE-Air on LinkedIn, Facebook, and at peace-air.eu for photos and updates from both events.

PEACE-Air is supported by the PEACEPLUS Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
