PEACE-Air Project Presented to Ulster Thoracic Society
Representatives from the PEACE-Air partnership recently delivered a presentation to the Ulster Thoracic Society, highlighting the growing evidence on air pollution and its significant impacts on public health. The project aims to promote community engagement, professional development resources for medical teams and a study incorporating monitoring of personal exposures to guide improvement in health impacts for vulnerable groups.
Dr Jenny Mack from the All Island Institute of Public Health and Dr Ciara Steele from Clean Air Advocacy Ireland jointly presented on the pervasive effects of air pollution, examining the impact on health across the population, and more at-risk subgroups such as children.
As part of the session, the speakers introduced the PEACE-Air project—an ambitious all-island research collaboration that will run over the next three years. The project aims to deliver a comprehensive analysis of air pollution across the island and to explore evidence-based policy options to support effective mitigation measures.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to engage with respiratory specialists and to exchange insights on this critical public health issue. The consortium extends its thanks to Dr Nazia Chaudhuri for the invitation and for facilitating constructive discussion with clinical experts.
This engagement reflects the project’s ongoing commitment to building collaboration between research, policy, and clinical communities to address air quality challenges.
